Walkers Association opposes skating rink in Cubbon Park
The Cubbon Park Walkers’ Association (CPWA) is against a plan to build a skating rink in Bengaluru’s Cubbon Park.
The Jawahar Bal Bhavan Society and the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports want to build this rink on half an acre of land for Rs 1.5 crore.
The CPWA says it’s not needed because there’s already a good skating rink at the Sri Kanteerava Stadium, which is very close by.
They think building another rink in the park, which is like the city’s lungs, is a waste of resources and could hurt the environment.
The CPWA president, S Umesh, explained that the new rink won’t give any extra benefits to the public but will cause harm to the park.
The Jawahar Bal Bhavan Society and the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports proposed a skating rink in Cubbon Park, Bengaluru.
The rink is estimated to cost Rs 1.5 crore and will be built on half an acre of land.
The Cubbon Park Walkers’ Association (CPWA) opposes the plan, calling it a redundant use of resources.
CPWA argues that a high-quality skating rink already exists at the nearby Sri Kanteerava Stadium.
The association believes the new rink will cause significant environmental harm to the park.
