UP Govt Announces Strict Penalties for Cyber Offences
The Uttar Pradesh government has announced strict penalties for cyber offences, including up to Rs 1 crore fine and 7 years' jail.
They have set up a system where police report such cases to a special cyber wing, which can quickly remove offensive content, even if it's on servers abroad.
The government has also trained many police personnel and organized awareness camps to educate people about cyber laws.
However, a Samajwadi Party MLA said that action is not always taken against influential people who spread offensive content.
The Assembly Speaker agreed that strict punishment is needed to send a strong message.
