Lottery Held for New Andhra Pradesh Bar Allotments
Imagine the government wants to give out licenses for bars, like handing out special permission slips.
They decided to do this in a fair way using a lottery, like drawing names out of a hat.
People who wanted to open a bar put in an application.
On Saturday, the government picked names at random to give out 466 licenses.
Some places didn't have enough people apply, so they extended the deadline to give others a chance.
The government announced all of this to make sure everything was done fairly.
A lottery draw was held to allocate 466 bars as part of the Andhra Pradesh Bar Policy 2025-28.
The lottery was conducted under the supervision of district collectors.
The application deadline was extended for bars with fewer than four applicants.
1,657 applications for open category bars and 564 applications for reserved category bars were found valid.
The government previously announced a total of 924 bars across the State.
