India-UK Trade Deal: New Agreement Signed
India and the UK made a deal to trade more easily!
It's called a Free Trade Agreement.
Some things get cheaper, like seafood from the UK.
However, fancy animals like polo horses still have a high tax to protect local breeders.
Car companies also have some new rules.
Overall, the deal should make it easier for businesses in both countries to trade with each other.
The deal isn't fully active yet, but will be soon!
India and the UK signed a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) called the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
Polo horses, mules, and other exotic livestock are excluded from the duty concession list, maintaining the 33% import duty.
The FTA reduces duties on British seafood, allowing duty-free access for items like tuna and salmon.
The Indian auto industry welcomed the FTA, expecting it to strengthen global economic engagement.
The agreement is expected to take effect once both parliaments ratify it, potentially in six months or more.
