Asansol Civic Body Targets 1,700 Tax Defaulters Amid Crisis

Asansol’s city government is trying to collect money that many businesses and institutions have not paid.

More than 1,700 establishments received official notices.

They have seven days to pay their property and service taxes.

The city government says services could be stopped at places that do not pay.

The municipality says it does not have enough money to continue some development work.

Contractors are also waiting for payments they are owed.

Officials hope collecting the taxes will provide money to pay contractors.

They also hope this will help restart city projects.
