State Expands Doorstep Healthcare and Geriatric Services for Seniors

The state government is trying to bring medical care closer to older people.

It says more than 1.1 crore health check-ups were completed for seniors during 2025-26.

Older people can receive check-ups, physiotherapy and rehabilitation services.

Primary health centres offer special geriatric care every Thursday.

People needing more advanced treatment can be sent to larger hospitals.

Medical teams also visited 74 old-age homes.

They found that some residents had depression, falls or memory problems.

These people received counselling, treatment and other support.

October will include special programmes about healthy ageing and elderly healthcare.
