WFI Withdraws Officials for Wrestling Championship
There's a big wrestling competition coming up at Chandigarh University.
The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) was supposed to provide the referees, but the university wanted to choose its own referees.
The WFI said no and won't send any officials now.
The university also wanted to do the competition draws by hand instead of using a computer, which the WFI thinks isn't fair.
Now, everyone is worried the competition might not happen smoothly.
WFI declined to send technical officials for the All India Inter-University Wrestling Championship hosted by Chandigarh University.
The dispute arose because Chandigarh University proposed a different referee panel than the one recommended by WFI.
WFI had already submitted an approved panel to the AIU and advised the university to appoint officials from that list.
WFI expressed concerns about the university's decision to conduct competition draws manually instead of using a computerized system.
The stand-off has created uncertainty about the smooth conduct of the championship.
