BMC to Build Green Energy Biogas Plant in Bhubaneswar
The city of Bhubaneswar is building a new plant to handle food waste.
This plant will use a special process called anaerobic digestion to break down the waste.
Instead of throwing the waste away, the plant will create biogas, a type of fuel.
This biogas will then be used to make electricity.
The electricity made will be sold to the power grid.
The local government is hoping to complete the project in about six months.
This project aims to reduce the city's reliance on fossil fuels and promote green energy.
The new plant is expected to process three tons of organic waste every day.
Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) plans a biogas plant at Unit-I haat.
The plant will process three tonnes of organic waste daily.
An agency will build, operate, and maintain the plant for five years.
BMC aims to generate and sell electricity to the power grid.
The project is expected to be completed within six months of agency selection.
