Delhi PWD Minister Directs Tech-Based Tolling for Highway Improvements
Delhi's PWD Minister wants to make roads better by using new technology for tolls.
Instead of toll booths, they will use cameras and electronic systems (like FASTag) to collect money.
The minister told the MCD and NHAI to work together and fix problems like traffic jams and unpaid fees.
He also ordered them to remove anything that blocks the roads, like trash or parked cars, to make the roads run more smoothly.
PWD Minister Parvesh Verma instructed MCD and NHAI to implement tech-based tolling systems to reduce traffic congestion.
Verma emphasized the adoption of gantry-based tolling, ANPR cameras, RFID readers, and FASTag integration.
Key congestion points like Sirhol-Rajokri Border, Dwarka Expressway, and others were reviewed.
Verma addressed pending rent dues and unresolved user fee collections, urging financial reconciliation.
He ordered the removal of encroachments, illegal dumping, unauthorized parking, and sewerage connections.
