Karnataka Congress Forms Committees for Elections
The Karnataka Congress has made a committee to look into bringing back student union elections in the state.
These elections were stopped in 1989 because of fights and too much political involvement in colleges.
The committee, led by Medical Education Minister Sharan Praksah Patil, has important people like the Higher Education Minister and others.
They have to give their report in 15 days.
The committee will think about how to hold these elections, if they should be based on political parties or just ideas, and how to make sure everyone, including women and students with disabilities, can take part.
The goal is to help students learn leadership and keep college life peaceful.
Additionally, the Congress has started accepting applications for party tickets in the upcoming Greater Bengaluru Municipal Corporation (GBMC) elections.
The application fees are Rs 50,000 for general candidates and Rs 25,000 for reserved and women candidates.
The funds collected will be used for building party offices.
