Yadav Urges Equal Focus on Climate Priorities Ahead of COP31

Bhupender Yadav is India’s environment minister.

He spoke at a meeting in Fiji before the next UN climate conference, COP31.

He said countries should give equal attention to adapting to climate impacts, reducing emissions and providing the means to carry out climate plans.

He also said every place may need its own climate solutions.

Local studies can help identify what each area needs.

Yadav said climate action should not use one plan for everyone.

He called for countries to respect a principle that recognizes shared climate responsibilities but differing capabilities.

COP31 is planned for November in Antalya, Türkiye.
