Chinese Factory Allegedly Exploits Workers Making Labubu Toys
A group called China Labor Watch found out that a toy factory in China, which makes Labubu toys, is treating its workers badly.
They made workers sign blank papers, work too many extra hours, and even hired teenagers without giving them special protection like the law says.
The factory has over 4,500 workers, and the group talked to more than 50 of them, including three who were under 18.
The workers had to make a lot of toys every day, and they worked way more extra hours than allowed.
The toy company, Pop Mart, says they check their factories regularly and care about worker safety, but the group says more needs to be done to help the workers.
China Labor Watch (CLW) reported worker exploitation at Shunjia Toys factory, which produces Labubu toys for Pop Mart.
Workers were allegedly forced to sign blank cheques and work excessive overtime, exceeding legal limits.
Underage workers (16- and 17-year-olds) were employed without special protections required by Chinese law.
Teams of 25-30 workers were expected to assemble at least 4,000 Labubu figures daily.
Pop Mart denied the allegations, stating they conduct regular audits of their supply chain partners.
