Bombay High Court Orders Removal of Defamatory Posts Targeting Gadkari

A very important court in Mumbai called the Bombay High Court told big websites like Meta, X and Google to delete nasty videos and posts about a minister named Nitin Gadkari.

Some people made fake videos and messages using computers that were not true.

The fake posts said Mr. Gadkari and his family got money from a government program about fuel made from ethanol.

The judge, Justice Arif Doctor, said the posts were mean, rude, and defamatory, which means they unfairly hurt someone's good name.

He said such content should not be where everyone, including children, can see it.

The websites agreed to remove the bad videos and posts when the court asked them to.

The judge also asked the websites to get better at spotting bad content on their own, without people always having to go to court.

Mr. Gadkari asked for Rs 11 crore in damages because the lies hurt his reputation.

He said honest criticism is fine, but false and hurtful lies are not allowed.

The court will meet again to talk about this in four weeks.
