Jared Isaacman Confirmed as NASA Administrator
Jared Isaacman, a billionaire who started his own company, has been chosen to lead NASA.
The US Senate voted to confirm him as the new NASA administrator.
He is known for his work in private space missions and is a friend of Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX.
NASA has been facing some challenges, like losing a lot of jobs and trying to beat China in getting back to the moon.
Isaacman believes NASA needs to work faster to achieve this goal.
He will now be in charge of leading NASA as they plan to return to the moon in 2028.
Jared Isaacman, a 42-year-old billionaire and founder of Draken International, was confirmed as NASA administrator by the US Senate with a 67-30 vote.
Isaacman, an advocate for Mars missions and a former associate of Elon Musk, has no government experience but deep private space credentials.
He was initially nominated by President Donald Trump in January 2025, withdrew in May due to political differences, and was renominated in November.
NASA has faced significant downsizing, with nearly 4,000 jobs cut, and is relying on SpaceX's unproven Starship variant for Artemis III lunar landings.
Isaacman emphasized the need for NASA to accelerate its pace to beat China's goal of landing taikonauts on the moon by 2030, aiming for a US lunar landing in 2028.
