IMA to Challenge Govt. Decision on Homoeopaths in Supreme Court
Doctors in Maharashtra are protesting a government plan that would let homeopaths with a special certificate practice modern medicine.
The doctors are going on strike, which means they will stop seeing new patients.
The doctors are worried that these homeopaths may not have enough training to safely practice modern medicine, as their training is only a one year course vs the MBBS's 5.5 years.
The IMA will also take the government to the Supreme Court to fight the decision.
IMA will challenge the government’s decision to allow homeopathy graduates with CCMP certificates to register with MMC.
A statewide token strike is planned for September 18, 2025.
Around 1.8 lakh allopathic doctors are expected to participate in the strike.
The strike will affect OPDs and private clinics.
The Maharashtra Council of Homoeopathy has begun the registration process for CCMP doctors.
