NCDRC Orders 6% Interest Over Decades-Long Flat Possession Delay

Anita Basant Misra paid most of the cost of a Mumbai flat before she was supposed to receive it.

The flat was meant to be ready for her by the end of 1984.

But she did not receive possession until 2015.

She complained about the long wait.

The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission decided that the developer must pay her interest for the delay.

The interest is 6% each year on the Rs 4,52,000 she paid.

It is calculated from January 1985 until June 2015.
