Two More ULFA-I Cadres Surrender in Arunachal
Two more members of a group called ULFA-I, named Baan Axom and Astitva Axom, gave up their weapons and surrendered to the police in Arunachal Pradesh.
They were found by a joint team from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh police and taken into custody without any fight.
The police found a lot of weapons and ammunition with them.
These two men were part of a bigger group led by someone named Arunoday Axom, who had also surrendered earlier.
The police are now questioning them to find out more.
This happened because the police have been trying harder to catch members of this group after a recent attack on an army camp.
The chief minister of Assam said that any talks for peace with this group should include their leader, Paresh Barua.
Two ULFA-I cadres, Baan Axom and Astitva Axom, surrendered to police in Arunachal Pradesh on December 3.
They were apprehended without resistance and taken into custody with a significant cache of arms and ammunition.
The duo were part of the main ULFA-I camp led by Arunoday Axom, who surrendered earlier on November 23.
Security operations against ULFA-I have intensified following an ambush on an Indian Army camp in October.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that meaningful peace dialogue with ULFA-I requires the direct participation of its chief, Paresh Barua.
