Indian Captain Hailed After Flydubai Cockpit Attack and Safe Landing
A Flydubai plane was flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv when a serious fight reportedly began in the cockpit.
Reports say the co-pilot stabbed Captain Smit Machchhar and may have tried to make the plane crash.
The plane quickly lost altitude and sent emergency signals.
Even though he was badly hurt, Machchhar reportedly opened the cockpit door.
Passengers and crew entered and helped restrain the other pilot.
Two off-duty pilots who were passengers then helped control the aircraft.
The plane landed safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, and the passengers later continued to Israel on another flight.
Leaders praised Machchhar, but investigators have not yet established the attacker’s motive.
