APJUDA Continues Strike Over 30% Stipend Hike in Andhra Pradesh

Some doctors in a place called Andhra Pradesh in India are very unhappy.

These doctors are still learning how to be doctors, so they are called resident or junior doctors.

They work in teaching hospitals and government medical colleges.

The doctors want the government to pay them more money for their training.

They asked for 30 per cent more, but the government only offered three per cent more.

The doctors think that is not enough, so they are on strike, which means they stop doing normal work.

They are also upset about new job recruitments and about changing the retirement age to 65.

Even during the strike, they still help patients in emergencies and take care of people who are very sick.

They are asking the government to listen to them so hospitals can work normally again.
