Gujarat Expands ITI Infrastructure for Skill Development
Gujarat is working on upgrading and expanding its Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) to better prepare students for modern jobs.
Currently, there are 177 projects underway, with 128 actively being worked on and 48 in the planning stages.
The government plans to start 114 more projects in the next few years.
These projects include building new ITI buildings, workshops, and hostels, as well as renovating existing ones.
The government is also making sure that these institutes are accessible to people with disabilities by adding features like ramps and Braille markings.
Additionally, they are providing support to students through travel allowances, better safety measures, and a job portal.
Officials are being urged to complete these projects on time and to ensure the safety of workers at construction sites and factories.
Gujarat is expanding its network of upgraded Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) with 177 ongoing projects and 114 more planned for 2026-27.
The initiatives aim to strengthen the state's skill development ecosystem and equip young people with 'New Age' skills.
Of the 177 ongoing projects, 128 are in active implementation, and 48 are in the pre-execution stage.
Major projects include a multi-storey building at Amreli ITI, new workshops at Tarsali ITI, and a hostel at Khedbrahma ITI.
The government is adding accessibility features for persons with disabilities and providing student support through travel allowances, modern fire safety systems, digitisation, and the Anubandham employment portal.
