Train runs over two monkeys in Bengal's Hooghly, companions mourn

Two monkeys wanted to eat fruit from a tamarind tree.

The tree was on the other side of a railway track.

As they tried to cross the track, a train came and hit them.

Sadly, the monkeys died.

This happened near Simlagarh railway station in the Hooghly district of West Bengal, a state in India.

Fourteen of their monkey friends came and sat around the bodies.

They were saying goodbye and feeling sad.

People living nearby moved the bodies to the side of the road.

Forest department officials then came and took the bodies to Chinsurah.

Local people asked if they could perform last rites for the monkeys.
