Mac users face trackpad freezes in macOS 26.5
Some Mac users who updated to macOS 26.5 are having problems with their trackpads.
The trackpad sometimes stops working for a few seconds, and a spinning wheel appears instead of the cursor.
This can happen many times and makes it hard to use the computer.
One user found a temporary fix by deleting a specific folder and letting the computer rebuild its search index.
Apple hasn't said much about the problem yet.
Mac users on macOS 26.5 report trackpad and system freezes.
Freezes last a few seconds but occur frequently, disrupting workflow.
Restarting the Mac offers only temporary relief.
Deleting the ~/Library/Metadata/CoreSpotlight folder and rebuilding the Spotlight index may fix the issue.
Apple has not yet provided an official solution or statement.
