India Shares Digital PFM Success with Global South
India recently held a seminar to share its success in using digital systems for managing public money.
The country has moved to paperless budget preparation, electronic fund releases, and real-time reconciliation, which has made the financial system more transparent.
Key officials spoke about how these changes have improved accountability and control over government funds.
They also talked about systems like the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), which have made tax collection and fund distribution more efficient.
India offered to help other developing countries adopt similar systems to improve their financial management.
India has achieved a transparent fiscal ecosystem through digital budget preparation, electronic fund release, and real-time reconciliation.
Economic Affairs Secretary Anuradha Thakur highlighted India’s macro-fiscal reforms, including strengthened fiscal discipline and the expansion of the formal tax base.
Controller General of Accounts (CGA) TCA Kalyani emphasized India’s support for Global South countries in designing public financial management systems.
