Ravenshaw University Reverses Order Limiting Women's Campus Access
Ravenshaw University in India initially told women they couldn't stay on campus past 5:30 PM.
This was to create new safety rules.
However, people disagreed with this.
The university then quickly changed its mind and took back the rule.
They said the restriction was in place until a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) was issued and if female faculty or students had to stay past 5:30PM, they had to have approval from their head of department.
Now, the university is working on these rules and will have a new process in place.
Ravenshaw University in Cuttack withdrew an order restricting women on campus after 5:30 pm.
The initial order, issued by the registrar, prohibited female faculty, staff, and students from staying on campus after 5:30 PM.
The order stated this restriction would remain until a formal Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) was issued.
Women requiring to stay past the deadline needed consent from their department head.
