Doval-Wang Beijing Talks Focus on Border Stability, BRICS

India and China disagree about where their border should be.

India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval is traveling to Beijing to meet Wang Yi, China’s Foreign Minister.

They are expected to hold the 25th round of special talks about the boundary on August 25.

The talks will focus on keeping the border peaceful and lowering tensions.

They may review plans for moving troops away from disputed areas and restoring patrolling rights.

The officials may also discuss ways to manage the border in different sectors.

The meeting follows reports of increased Chinese military activity near Arunachal Pradesh.

India says Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India, while China claims it as South Tibet.

The talks could help improve relations before a possible visit by Xi Jinping to India for the BRICS summit.
