Eklavya Schools to Implement Aadhaar Biometric Attendance
The government is changing how teachers at Eklavya schools mark their attendance.
Instead of writing their names in a book, they will use a fingerprint scanner that uses their Aadhaar card to check them in.
This is because some people thought the old way of marking attendance was not always accurate and sometimes faked.
The new system will be the only way to mark attendance.
The schools have until mid-November to start using this new system.
Teachers have expressed concerns that the new system doesn't account for their varied responsibilities and work hours.
Eklavya schools will implement Aadhaar-based biometric attendance.
The National Education Society for Tribal Students (Nests) issued the directive.
The change follows complaints of attendance record manipulation.
The biometric system will be the sole method of attendance.
Teachers have expressed concerns regarding implementation.
