Farmers Begin Paddy Sowing After Recent Rains in Several Districts
Farmers in certain districts are getting ready to grow rice for the Kharif season after some rain.
They are planting rice seeds.
Some farmers used to grow a type of rice called Swarna, but it sometimes fell over in storms and attracted bugs.
Now, officials suggest new types of rice, like MTU 1262 and MTU 1224, that are better.
These new kinds should grow well and sell for good prices.
These new types are also good for areas that have a lot of water.
Farmers in several districts are sowing paddy for the Kharif season following recent rains.
Upland farmers have completed 80% of nursery work, while delta farmers are progressing.
Farmers are considering changing from the Swarna variety due to its vulnerability to weather and pests.
Agriculture officials suggest new superfine varieties like MTU 1262 and MTU 1224 for better yield.
These new varieties are also alternatives to BPT seed and can be cultivated in areas with inundation and water logging.
