India Allocates Rs 455 Crore for Hydrogen Steel Projects
The Indian government has given Rs 455 crore to help make steel in a cleaner way.
They want to use hydrogen instead of coal to make steel, which will help the environment.
This money is for special projects that will test this new method.
The government also made rules to decide what counts as 'green steel' and has given special certificates to 43 steel plants that are already making cleaner steel.
They have a plan to make the steel industry even cleaner in the future, so India can reach its goal of zero carbon emissions by 2070.
India allocates Rs 455 crore for hydrogen-based steel projects under the National Green Hydrogen Mission.
Funding available until the financial year 2029-30 to reduce carbon emissions in the steel sector.
Four pilot projects awarded, including one in a public sector enterprise and three in private-sector steel plants.
43 private steel units have received 'Green Steel Certificates' with a combined production capacity of 11.6 million tonnes per year.
