The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence stopped a car in Visakhapatnam.

The car was carrying two people and was travelling from Kolkata to Hyderabad.

Officials chased and intercepted it on the night of October 8–9.

They found a hidden compartment beneath the front passenger seat.

Inside were three packets of gold weighing about 5.83 kilograms.

The gold was valued at Rs 8.98 crore.

Officials suspect it had been smuggled into India through the Bangladesh border region.
