Nagpur Airport Transfer to GMR Faces Bureaucratic Delays
Nagpur airport's change of ownership is stuck in the red tape.
Currently, the government runs the airport, and they are supposed to hand it over to GMR Group.
However, it cannot be handed over until the government approves transferring the land.
While GMR has the money, the process needs to be approved by multiple departments.
The airport, which was expected to transfer hands in early May, has been delayed.
Once GMR takes over, it plans to expand the airport to handle many more travelers.
GMR Group's takeover of Nagpur Airport is delayed by land transfer approvals.
The current operator is Mihan India Limited (MIL), a joint venture.
Approval from the Union cabinet is needed to transfer the land.
GMR secured a ₹2,600 crore loan for the takeover.
The land will be transferred on a 30-year lease.
