Soybean Farmers Block Road Over Low Mandi Prices in Ujjain
Farmers in Ujjain protested because they said the market was offering too little money for their soybeans.
They reported bids of about ₹4,400 at the market.
They said the same crop could bring ₹5,200 to ₹5,600 outside it.
Farmers also said too few traders were bidding.
They raised concerns about water, toilets, weighing scales and storage arrangements.
Local MLA Mahesh Parmar alleged that market officials and traders were working together.
An official said the disagreement came from a misunderstanding about prices and suggested checking nearby markets.
Police and a local official helped end the road blockade.
Farmers and the MLA said it lasted about three hours, while the official put it at about one hour.
Farmers blocked a road outside Tarana Krishi Upaj Mandi on Monday, saying soybean prices there were unfair.
