BP Warns of Weak Oil Trading
BP is a big energy company based in London.
They recently said that their oil-trading business isn't doing well, and they might have to reduce the value of their gas and low-carbon energy investments by up to $5 billion.
This is similar to what another company, Shell, said last week.
Even though they're having some problems, BP is still working on reducing their debt.
At the end of the last quarter, their debt was $26.1 billion, but they expect it to be between $22 billion and $23 billion by the end of this quarter.
They're trying to make their company stronger and more valuable for their shareholders.
BP warned of weak oil-trading performance in the fourth quarter.
The company expects to book a $4 billion to $5 billion impairment in its gas and low-carbon energy segment.
BP is continuing to cut net debt as part of a turnaround strategy.
Net debt is expected to be in the range of $22 billion to $23 billion by the end of the quarter, down from $26.1 billion at the end of the third quarter.
