IEA and EU Discuss Oil and Diesel Stock Release

IEA and EU Discuss Oil and Diesel Stock Release

The IEA and the EU discussed releasing oil and diesel from emergency reserves.

The G7 had agreed to release 100 million barrels after Donald Trump warned that the United States might ban diesel exports if other countries did not put more fuel on the market.

The articles say it is not clear how much of the release will be diesel and how much will be crude oil.

They also say it is unclear whether the plan brings extra supplies or finishes an earlier promise.

In March, countries agreed to release 400 million barrels, and about 325 million had been released.

EU diplomats said the remaining 75 million barrels could be part of the new 100-million-barrel plan.

Germany said it would take part in releasing volumes already set in March.

Poland said it was ready to release stocks if countries agreed, but did not expect an IEA decision that Wednesday.
