Bengal CM Warns Jadavpur University Protesters of Strict Action

Suvendu Adhikari warned that people at Jadavpur University could face strict action for slogans he considers anti-national.

He specifically mentioned slogans supporting freedom for Kashmir.

He said the government would respond using the approach associated with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose rather than Mahatma Gandhi.

Adhikari also spoke in support of a Bill allowing staff to move between universities.

He said the Bill would help strengthen newer institutions.

He said Jadavpur University would receive Rs 1,300 crore in grants.

He also said Kolkata Police should arrest Congress workers who burned portraits of Dhirendra Shashtri.

Finally, he mentioned a possible investigation into the 1970 murder of former university vice chancellor Gopal Sen.
