On I-Day, Omar Abdullah says 80-year-old decision was right
On Independence Day, a leader named Omar Abdullah gave a speech.
He is the Chief Minister of a region called Jammu and Kashmir.
He talked about a choice leaders made eighty years ago.
He said that choice was the right one.
He also talked about people living in a nearby area called Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
He said that if the rules for his region had not been changed in 2019, those people would be asking to join his region.
He wants "what has been snatched from us" to be returned.
He also asked the central government to give more power to states.
He remembered brave people who made sacrifices and said they did so for a good cause.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the decision leaders took 80 years ago was the right one.
He said people in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir would be protesting to "reunite with us" if J&K's constitutional structure had not been changed in 2019.
Abdullah called for the return of "what has been snatched from us."
He urged strengthening federalism, warning that central agencies usurping state powers led to what was seen at Jantar Mantar.
He recalled the slogan "Hamla awar khabardar, hum Kashmiri hain tayyar" and said the sacrifices made were for the right cause.
