Kerala University Sanskrit PhD Row: SFI Leader's Degree Under Investigation
Imagine a university is thinking about giving a student a special high-level degree, like a PhD, in a subject they studied, like Sanskrit.
But, the head of the Sanskrit department complained that the student might not really know Sanskrit well enough and couldn't answer questions about their big research paper.
The student says the person complaining doesn't like them for personal reasons.
The university's top boss heard about this and has asked for an investigation to see if the student truly earned the degree based on their hard work and knowledge, or if something unfair happened.
This is important because universities need to make sure they give degrees to people who really deserve them based on what they know and can do.
Kerala University's Sanskrit department Dean has complained against awarding a PhD to SFI leader Vipin Vijayan.
The Dean alleges the candidate displayed inability to answer questions in English, Sanskrit, and Malayalam during his open defense.
The candidate's dissertation on 'Sadhguru Sarvaswam- A Study' was prepared in English and is described as substandard.
The Vice-Chancellor has ordered an investigation into the matter following the Dean's complaint.
The SFI leader claims the complaint is due to personal enmity.
