Vedanta Plans Mid-May Listing for Demerged Units
Vedanta, a big company that deals with metals and oil, is splitting into five separate companies.
Four of these new companies will be listed on the stock market by mid-May 2026.
The split is planned to start on April 1, 2026.
The four new companies will focus on steel, oil and gas, aluminium, and power, while the main company will keep the base metals business.
Vedanta's chairman and CFO say this split will help each business grow better.
The company recently reported a big increase in profits and revenue.
The split was approved by a court after some initial problems with the government.
The company also said that higher taxes on aluminium imports from the US didn't hurt them much because of strong demand in India.
Shares of Vedanta dropped a bit recently, following weaker global prices.
Vedanta plans to list four demerged units by mid-May 2026, with the demerger effective from April 1, 2026.
The four demerged businesses are steel and ferrous metals, oil and gas, aluminium, and power, while the base metals unit will remain with the parent company.
Vedanta reported a 61% profit growth and 37% revenue growth in Q3 FY26.
The Rs 48,000 crore debt will be allocated to the demerged entities based on their cash flows.
Promoters will hold around 50% stake in each demerged entity without involvement in day-to-day operations.
