UGC Directs HEIs to Comply with Foreign Student Rules
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has told all schools and colleges in India to follow new rules for registering foreign students.
These rules are part of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.
Schools must fill out a form called Form-II with details like the student's passport number, visa, and course information.
They have to submit this form within 24 hours of the student's admission or when they leave.
The UGC says this is important for keeping track of foreign students in India and ensuring everyone follows the law.
The UGC has directed all HEIs to comply with foreign student registration requirements under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.
Institutions must submit student details using Form-II electronically through a designated portal or mobile application.
Form-II must be submitted within 24 hours of admission and must include comprehensive details such as passport number, visa/OCI details, and course information.
HEIs must also upload FRRO registration details and maintain semester-wise academic records, including attendance, examination results, and conduct.
The UGC has emphasized strict adherence to the new regulatory framework to avoid violations and ensure compliance with immigration laws.
