Mercedes-Maybach S 580e Plug-In Hybrid Launches in India
Mercedes-Benz has launched a very expensive Maybach car in India.
It costs Rs 3.35 crore before other charges.
The car uses both a petrol engine and an electric motor, so it is a plug-in hybrid rather than a fully electric car.
Together, the two power sources produce 585 hp and 750 Nm of torque.
Its battery can provide up to 98 km of driving under a WLTP test.
The car can also use petrol, and it can be charged at home or at a fast-charging station.
The India version has four seats, with extra features for passengers in the back.
Mercedes-Benz says it will initially offer 30 cars and include a home charging solution.
Mercedes-Benz launched the Mercedes-Maybach S 580e in India at Rs 3.35 crore, ex-showroom, as the Maybach range’s first plug-in hybrid in the country.
Its 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine and electric motor combine with 4MATIC all-wheel drive for 585 hp and 750 Nm, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The car accelerates from 0-100 kmph in 4.8 seconds, has a claimed top speed of 250 kmph, and can travel at up to 140 kmph in electric mode.
A 22 kWh usable battery provides up to 98 km of WLTP-certified electric range; charging supports up to 11 kW AC and 60 kW DC.
Mercedes-Benz says only 30 units will initially be available; the India-spec model has four seats and includes a complimentary home charging solution.
