BRICS Leaders Reaffirm Commitment to Paris Agreement Climate Goals
BRICS leaders said they still support the Paris Agreement on climate change.
They want countries to keep working together to reduce climate risks.
They also said countries should prepare for climate impacts and help those already suffering damage.
Developing countries need financial and practical support, according to the declaration.
The leaders said large debts make it harder for these countries to invest in climate and development projects.
They called for international help to make debt easier to manage.
They also criticized certain trade measures, such as carbon-border-adjustment mechanisms.
They said these measures could make it harder for developing countries to respond to climate change.
BRICS leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement.
The New Delhi Declaration 2026 urged countries to maintain and increase climate action.
Leaders called for implementation of mitigation, adaptation, loss and damage, and climate support for developing countries.
They urged international action on debt sustainability, fiscal space, sustainable development, and climate financing.
The leaders opposed unilateral and protectionist measures, including carbon-border-adjustment mechanisms, that they said could harm developing countries.
