Indore Sanitation Strike Leaves Garbage Piling Across City

Indore Sanitation Strike Leaves Garbage Piling Across City

More than 8,000 sanitation workers in Indore are on strike.

They want their jobs to be made regular and are asking for other benefits.

Because they are not working, garbage is piling up in streets, markets and homes.

Some waste-collection vehicles did not reach their usual areas.

The workers held a protest outside the municipal corporation office.

Municipal Commissioner Kshitij Singhal said 44 workers who had lost their jobs were reinstated.

He sent other requests to the state government and asked the workers to return.

The workers said they would keep striking on Wednesday.
