Himachal's Larji Hydropower Project Fully Restored After Floods
Imagine a big machine that makes electricity, called the Larji hydropower project.
It got badly damaged by a big flood in July 2023, like a toy getting broken.
The flood caused a lot of mess inside the machine, making it stop working.
People worked very hard to clean up the mess and fix the machine.
They also built new protections, like special gates, to keep the machine safe from future floods and landslides.
Finally, after a lot of work, the machine is back to making electricity again.
It is now working at full power again, ready to help everyone.
The 126 MW Larji hydropower project in Kullu district has been fully restored.
The project was damaged during the Beas river floods on July 9 and 10, 2023.
Restoration included clearing debris and implementing preventive measures.
Unit I was restarted on Jan 15, 2024, with Unit II on Aug 9, 2024, and Unit III on Jan 17, 2025.
Preventive measures include slope stabilization and gate installations.
