HDFC Bank Succession Hinges on RBI Approval Timeline

HDFC Bank Succession Hinges on RBI Approval Timeline

HDFC Bank will soon need to choose a new chief executive.

The current CEO, Sashidhar Jagdishan, has a term ending in October 2026.

The bank’s board must first select a person for the job.

After that, the Reserve Bank of India must approve the appointment.

Kaizad Bharucha is one possible candidate from inside the bank.

Other experienced banking leaders have also been mentioned.

Jefferies studied CEO approvals at several private banks.

It found that the approval process has recently taken between about 35 and 90 days in some cases.

Jefferies says the change could slow deposit and fee growth, but it does not expect major problems with the bank’s loans.
