SBI Raises ₹4,691 Cr via AT‑1 Bonds at 7.75%
State Bank of India, the biggest bank in India, sold special bonds called AT‑1 bonds to raise money.
The bonds pay a 7.75% interest rate and can be called back after five years.
Investors bid more than twice the amount the bank wanted, showing strong interest.
The money will help the bank keep enough capital to stay safe and grow its business.
The bank plans to raise even more money next year through similar bonds.
SBI raised ₹4,691 crore via its first AT‑1 bond issue this financial year.
The bonds carry a 7.75% coupon, are rated AA+ by Crisil and Care, and have a call option after five years.
The issue attracted bids more than twice the base size (₹3,000 crore) with 89 qualified institutional investors.
Proceeds will diversify SBI’s long‑term non‑equity regulatory capital and support future business growth.
SBI plans to raise up to ₹60,000 crore in FY27 through various debt instruments, including AT‑1 and tier‑II bonds.
