Indian Chess Players Advance and Exit FIDE World Cup
Five Indian chess players are moving forward in the FIDE World Cup being held in Goa.
Karthik Venkataraman is one of them, beating his Romanian opponent, Bogdan-Daniel Deac, in a tiebreaker match.
He will now play Le Quang Liem from Vietnam in the next round.
However, two other Indian players, Vidit Gujrathi and Narayanan SL, were not so lucky and were eliminated from the tournament.
Vidit lost a tough match against American player Sam Shankland, while Narayanan was defeated by China's Yu Yangyi after a very long game.
