Tengizchevroil Resumes Oil Production in Kazakhstan
Tengizchevroil, a company led by Chevron, has started bringing back oil production at the Tengiz oil field in Kazakhstan.
This is Kazakhstan's biggest oil field.
They have already started five wells and plan to increase production slowly.
The Kazakh energy ministry and KazMunayGas are helping to speed up the process.
The goal is to reach full production within a week.
This is important because Kazakhstan's oil output has been affected by several issues since last year.
Tengizchevroil has begun restoring oil production at Kazakhstan's largest oil field, Tengiz, after a partial suspension.
The first well was successfully brought back online at 3:35 a.m. local time, with five wells currently operational.
Production will be gradually increased, with support from the Kazakh energy ministry and KazMunayGas.
Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov expects full production to be reached within a week.
This restoration aims to boost Kazakhstan's oil output, which has been affected by several incidents since late last year.
