ED Alleges Gandhi's Aimed to 'Usurp' Rs 2,000 Crore Assets
The government is investigating if Sonia and Rahul Gandhi tried to wrongly take control of a company (AJL) that owns the National Herald newspaper.
They believe AJL had valuable assets but took a loan of Rs 90 crore from the Congress party.
The investigators say that a new company (Young Indian) was created to take over AJL's assets instead of repaying the loan.
Sonia and Rahul Gandhi own most of Young Indian.
The government alleges this was done to take AJL's assets illegally.
ED alleged Sonia and Rahul Gandhi aimed to usurp assets of AJL, publisher of the National Herald.
The ED stated the alleged assets were worth approximately Rs 2,000 crore.
The Congress gave an interest-free loan of Rs 90 crore to AJL.
The ED claims a conspiracy involved Young Indian to take over AJL's assets.
The ED filed a chargesheet and seized properties linked to the case.
