Caretaker forges cheque, swindles 1.2 lakh from 95-year-old
A man named Anilbhai was hired to look after a 95‑year‑old man in Vadodara.
He pretended to be the old man and made a fake cheque to take Rs 1.2 lakh from his bank.
The old man’s son saw the mistake when he tried to withdraw money.
The caretaker also tried to take a huge amount of Rs 22 lakh from the old man’s pension, but the bank stopped it.
The police arrested the caretaker for cheating and forgery.
This case shows how important it is to keep an eye on people who help elderly family members.
Live‑in caretaker Anilbhai Ambalal Makwana forged the 95‑year‑old’s signature to withdraw Rs 1.2 lakh.
A second cheque for Rs 22 lakh was attempted from the retiree’s pension account but was stopped after the first fraud.
The fraud was discovered when the son, Jagrut Vora, noticed a discrepancy on June 1 while using his father’s ATM card.
The caretaker had unrestricted access to the elder’s room and financial documents.
Police booked Makwana on charges of cheating and forgery; the case highlights the vulnerability of elderly with hired caregivers.
