Sunrise Festival in India’s easternmost village
A special Sunrise Festival is happening in a small village called Dong in Arunachal Pradesh, which is the first place in India to see the sunrise.
The festival runs from December 29 to January 2 and includes lots of fun activities like watching the sunrise, cultural performances, treks, camping, and trying local food.
The organizers want to make sure the festival is eco-friendly, so they have a theme called 'No Trash, No Trace, No Excuses'.
The Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu, says the festival will show off the unique nature and culture of the region.
Dong is a remote village near the borders of India, China, and Myanmar, and it's surrounded by beautiful mountains and forests.
To get there, you can fly to Tezu or take a train to Tinsukia in Assam, and then travel by road.
The first Sunrise Festival will be held in Dong, Arunachal Pradesh, from December 29 to January 2, 2024.
Dong is the first village in India to witness the sunrise, located near the India-China-Myanmar tri-junction.
The festival will feature cultural performances, adventure activities, and sustainable tourism initiatives.
