Mumbai Police Seize ₹3 Crore Hookah Flavours, Arrest Man in Drug Case
The police in Mumbai found a lot of hookah flavours that had nicotine in them and were missing important health warnings.
There were over 1,800 boxes, and they are worth about 3 crore rupees!
This is a big deal because these kinds of smoking products are not allowed.
In a different operation, the police also caught a man named Akbar Khau in a place called Odisha.
He was wanted because he was selling a drug called mephedrone.
He had been in jail before for serious crimes and started selling drugs again after he got out.
The police caught him after he was found to be supplying drugs to someone else.
He is now in police custody to help with the investigation.
Mumbai Crime Branch seized 1,831 boxes of nicotine-laced hookah flavours, valued at ₹3.01 crore, due to missing health warnings.
The seizure highlights the ongoing illegal trade of banned nicotine-based smoking substances in Maharashtra.
The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) arrested Ahmed Mohammed Shafi Shaikh, also known as Akbar Khau, a wanted offender from Odisha.
Akbar Khau is accused of supplying mephedrone in a case where 64 grams of the drug were previously seized, leading to the arrest of Farid Rehmatulla Shaikh.
Akbar Khau, a repeat offender previously booked under MCOCA, has been remanded to police custody until November 7.
